About Us

On April 1, 1983, Lee and Lona Earl opened Adventureland Video in the vibrant 5-Points Mall. With only 190 VHS titles and 10 VCRs packed into 600 square feet, they set out to bring the movie theatre experience into the homes of everyone in the neighborhood. A few years later, they renamed the store to Top Hat Video and moved to a larger space within the mall. Now, Top Hat Video has a permanent home in Bountiful at The Square @2600. This eclectic, local hot-spot offers over 32,000 items for rent across multiple formats–including 4K, 3D, Blu-Ray, DVD, and various video game systems. With Lee and Lona’s vision, and exceptional community support, Top Hat Video has become more than just a video store with big dreams – it’s an experience.

New arrivals out today 9/17!

X-Men: Dark Phoenix, PG13 - Sansa Stark joins the e̶v̶e̶r̶ ̶d̶e̶c̶l̶i̶n̶i̶n̶g̶ X-Men series as Jean Grey AKA Dark Phoenix. Is she actually a phoenix? Is she dark? These are the questions which may be answered if you watch this movie.

Above the Shadows, NR - From what I can tell, this movie is about a woman who is literally invisible and who must find her way back to being visibile with the help of the one man who can see her. I'm assuming once she becomes visibile again, we learn that she was never invisibile and just had poor self-esteem. So here's a boost of self-esteem for you: Hey, you look really good today.

And the new Hallmark:
Love Takes Flight, NR - Love lifts us up where we belong! Where handsome men fly EMS helicopters and single mom's fall in love with them. Oh and also there's a heartwarming friendship between an old man and the single mom's daughter. But mostly it's about flying helicopters. Just kidding, it's mostly about love.

New arrivals out today 9/10!

Aladdin, PG - You've already seen this movie, but that was almost 30 years ago! It's high time you watch it again. But not the cartoon, watch this one because it's live action! Plus there's a whole scene about jams that the cartoon doesn't have! Don't you want to see the jam scene?

John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum, R - John Wick is back and he's still real good at killing people. This movie gets a solid 10/10 from me for using horses and dogs as weapons, too.

The Dead Don't Die, R - The peaceful town of Centerville (no relation to Centerville, UT) finds itself battling a zombie horde as the dead start rising from their graves. This is the first of two zombie comedies Bill Murray is in this year. It's probably just a phase, right? Or is Bill Murray trying to tell us something?

Being Frank, R - What is it like being Frank? It's like having a second family and enduring the comedic drama when they inevitably discover each other.

Armstrong, NR - It's a documentary about Armstrong! Not, the Armstrong who cheated at riding bikes. The good Armstrong who landed on the moon.

And the new Hallmark:
Harvest Love, NR - A doctor from Seattle returns to her family farm to reconnect with her son and finds more than she can imagine. What do you think she finds? Do you think it's love? It can't be. Not in a Hallmark movie!

Happy Saturday! We hope you’re enjoying the cooler weather this weekend. Our recommended documentary comes from Amy, who first listed Before The Flood, “because it's very thorough and tackles a variety of problems/evidence/solutions. Also I find Leonardo DiCaprio's voice and the score oddly calming despite it being a rather grim documentary. I appreciate that it's not sugar coating the subject.”
Drop by and ask about it today!
