About Us

On April 1, 1983, Lee and Lona Earl opened Adventureland Video in the vibrant 5-Points Mall. With only 190 VHS titles and 10 VCRs packed into 600 square feet, they set out to bring the movie theatre experience into the homes of everyone in the neighborhood. A few years later, they renamed the store to Top Hat Video and moved to a larger space within the mall. Now, Top Hat Video has a permanent home in Bountiful at The Square @2600. This eclectic, local hot-spot offers over 32,000 items for rent across multiple formats–including 4K, 3D, Blu-Ray, DVD, and various video game systems. With Lee and Lona’s vision, and exceptional community support, Top Hat Video has become more than just a video store with big dreams – it’s an experience.

New Arrivals out today 7/7!

Trolls: World Tour, PG – The first “Trolls” introduced your kids to the world of pop music, now the sequel will introduce them to rock . . . and probably more pop.

Sorry We Missed You, NR – If you want to watch a social commentary on what it’s like to be a delivery driver in the UK, you’ll be “sorry if you miss this one”.

Hope Gap, PG13 - A couple's visit with their son takes a dramatic turn when the father tells him he plans on leaving his mother. You see, the UK doesn’t celebrate Thanksgiving, so parents have to schedule actual trips to visit their children to tell them life-altering news instead of waiting to do it in November while eating turkey.

We Summon the Darkness, R – Don’t you hate it when you go to a heavy-metal show and you get invited to the after party and people just want to summon demons instead of talk about the music?

The Lost Husband, PG13 - Trying to put her life back together after the death of her husband, Libby and her children move to her estranged Aunt's goat farm in central Texas. I know you’re thinking this must be a Hallmark movie, but I assure you it is not. I’m working on a theory that Hallmark movie plots are contagious and the disease is spreading. Soon all movies will be about hard-working women that move to the country to find themselves. And I, for one, welcome our new Hallmark overlords.

New Arrivals out today 6/30!

Four Kids and It, PG – I was going to write something to help clarify that “It” is actually some sort of cross between a genie and E.T. but then I found out that Matthew Goode is in this movie and now I’m just too sad to continue.

Force of Nature, R – A gang of thieves plan a heist during a hurricane and encounter trouble when a cop tries to force everyone in the building to evacuate. So that’s now two movies in two years about heists that take place during a hurricane for those of you keeping score at home.

Higher Power, R - When the Universe decides what it wants, it's pointless to resist (coincidentally this is also the theme of 2020). With his family's life at stake, Joseph Steadman finds himself the unwilling test subject of a maniacal scientist in a battle that could save the world, or destroy it.

Beecham House, TV-14 - A look at the lives of residents living in a Delhi mansion during the cusp of 19th century. If you’re interested in the British Raj, then you should definitely check this one out. Although, the costume department could have added more pith helmets.

Hallmark:
Christmas in Evergreen: Tidings of Joy, TV-G – Take a break from the heat of the summer and enjoy a Hallmark Christmas movie that involves a skeptical writer, a time capsule and (you didn’t guess it) love.
